Newmont Declares Quarterly Dividend of $0.35 per share, an Increase of 17% over the Prior Year's Quarterly Dividend

DENVER, July 24, 2012 /CNW/ - Newmont Mining Corporation (NYSE: NEM) ("Newmont" or the "Company") announced today its Board of Directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.35 per share of common stock, payable on September 28, 2012, to holders of record at the close of business on September 6, 2012.

"Reflecting our commitment to capital discipline and returning capital to our shareholders, we have increased our dividend for the fourth time during the last year," said Richard O'Brien, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Newmont has revised its gold price-linked dividend policy from the Company's average realized gold price to the average London P.M. Fix price for the preceding quarter. The third quarter 2012 dividend of $0.35 per share was based on the average London P.M. Fix of $1,609 per ounce for the second quarter 2012.

In addition, Newmont Mining Corporation of Canada Limited (TSX: NMC) today declared a regular quarterly dividend of CAD $0.3573 per share on its exchangeable shares, payable September 28, 2012, to holders of record at the close of business on September 6, 2012. This dividend is designated as an "eligible dividend" for Canadian tax purposes.
